Launched as a firm favourite on the local running calendar, the Brent Knoll Race has earned its reputation as a true Somerset classic—combining challenging terrain, dramatic climbs, and an unbeatable community atmosphere.

Whether you’ve tackled the Knoll before or you’re ready to take it on for the first time, this is a race that promises a memorable experience from start to finish.

Set around the iconic Brent Knoll, this off-road route is as tough as it is rewarding. You’ll take on a steep ascent to the summit, navigating muddy trails and uneven ground, before enjoying a fast, exhilarating descent back down.

Expect testing climbs, unpredictable conditions, and breathtaking panoramic views across the Somerset Levels that make every step worthwhile. It’s a course that will push you – but leave you wanting more.

 ENTRY

£20.00 (A £2 discount will be applied at the basket to all entry selections for users with a current England Athletics registration number.

Entries close on the 18th November 6pm

COURSE

Route Summary

  • Start at BASC – Heading out along footpaths, bridleways and quiet country roads
  • Summit Climb 
  • Half Circuit around the top
  • Steep Descents back down returning at BASC. 
Trail Conditions – 6 miles, 569ft of elevation, and a side of mud 🤪. Trail trainers area must! 

TOILETS

Toilets and changing facilities are available at the sportsground.

PARKING

There is ample parking at BASC Sportsground.  Note the entrance has a height barrier restricting vans or high-sided vehicles. 

  • Car park marshals will direct you accordingly. Please car share if possible. .

 

 

    BAG DROP

    A bag drop is available at the sportsground. Space is limited and bags are left at your own risk

    HEADPHONES

    In accordance with England Athletics rules, only bone-conduction headphones are permitted. In-ear and over-ear headphones are not allowed.

    REFRESHMENTS

    The Sportsground will be open with drinks and snacks available.

    HYDRATION

    Drink plenty of fluids before, during, and after the race. There are no water stations on the course. Drinks are provided at the finish.

    DOGS

    BASC operates a strict no-dogs-on-site policy
