Run Leaders

Burnham Harriers welcomes the development of its runners in becoming a Run Leader as a crucial step to engaging, encouraging and supporting members, new and existing, to their running aims, improvements and fitness.

Harrier members wishing to become a run leader are supported through the England Athletics Leadership in Running Fitness course. The course is an online course involving four self-learning modules, a virtual classroom session that promotes teaching and learning with fellow trainee run leaders and remote practical activities, where run leaders deliver two, filmed running sessions that are uploaded to the learning portal and feedback is provided by your tutor.

The four online self-learning sessions are themed as follows:

Module 1 – Individual Centred Leading and the Role of the Leader

Module 2 – Running Fitness Session Content

Module 3 – Performance Factors, Energy Systems and their application

Module 4 – The role of the leader in injury avoidance

The Virtual classroom allows the run leader to reflect on their learning from the four modules, discussing the content and giving feedback on their leading practice.

The final step will see run leaders deliver two filmed, practical running sessions. Harrier members will support and participate in these sessions to help you gain your run leader qualification. The filmed sessions will need to be uploaded to your learning platform and feedback will be given your tutor.

If you are keen to become a run leader, please contact the committee or email BurnhamHarriers@gmail.com.
